I love the Discovery and it is pretty high on my "Indoor and Free!" things to do list. There are lots of interesting things to see, space to charge around and the "boat" room (for which there is a small charge" where little ones can play with a water play replica of the Tyne- When I was doing my teacher training I'm sure I learned that water and sand was great for child development and even more so when it isn't in your own house!
There is also a hands on science section with a play area and a human kaleidoscope (extra fun for twins!)
The museum is spread across several floors but there is a lift and lots of changing/toilet facilities. There is a cafe which is pretty basic but has a decent kids selection and loads of high chairs. But we sometimes also go to the cafe across the road at Dance City which has a bit more character and some toys!
